The Dying Eye is my first feature length film as Director of Photography. It was crowdfunded by American Director Shiphrah Meditz and almost entirely filmed in Edinburgh's Old Town.
I felt very honoured to be offered the role by Shiphrah based solely on my previous short film 'Close Encounters' and I could hardly refuse the opportunity. It turned out to be some of the best weeks of my life working with some of the most talented people I've ever worked with. It tested us all mentally & physically and pushed every limit of my creativity (see photos) but I'm grateful for the experience. I know now that there is no filmmaking challenge I cannot rise to meet.
I have high hopes for the film. The trailer was a little rushed in order to meet a Cannes deadline but it's had a year in post now so I'm looking forward to its release.

An awesome night time shooting location.

Glidecam for a meeting in the graveyard.

Drew Taylor & I climbed the Scott Monument to film Cutaways of Edinburghs Old Town. It is not easy to climb with film gear.

Is there anything Gaffer Tape cant do?

I'm not quite sure why we felt this was a good idea but it was a nice shot nonetheless.

Equations on the board.

Me & Drew wearing Mel's hats.

We shot in this room for a week.

Excellent shot of me by BtS Photographer Tibor Galamb.

Definitely forgot to fill out the health & safety form on this one.

Took some convincing but shooting in this practice ward was amazing.

Wrap party shot. Missing the star of course.

Tunnel at Castle Terrace. Has one of the funniest moments not recorded from the entire film shoot. Costume Designer Vikki coming towards us with a legion of people behind her that she'd been holding up for us.

My favourite AC and I in the Cabin Fever room.

Highly recommend shooting here if you need realism without interruptions for a medical scene.

Talented Colin Cuninghame & Hugh Burgess.

Getting the shot.

Certain authority you can feel in this picture.
