I was given a mere 12 hours notice from MB Productions and Ross Colquhoun from The SNP to get myself rested and into Stirling to film Nicola's Pocket Manifesto piece on behalf of The SNP campaign for the UK General Election 2015. Truly a proud moment for me and prouder still that such a well spoken and forthright person is the First Minister of Scotland and campaigning for better government for everyone living in the UK.
As shoots go this was a tricky one. After filming atmospheric shots of the event and press coverage for over an hour I had no time at all with the First Minister to get this one right. Based on my experience alone I set up my shot and judged my audio levels. There was no time for a lav mic so this was straight into my Sony A7s with my Rode Videomic Pro. And so with the sun in my face, I had perhaps 10 seconds to judge my focus and framing as The First Minister asked me to give her a thumbs up. 90 seconds later I run to a sun shielded doorway to make sure everything was ok. I think it went well.
